Marta Kos welcomed the adoption of Serbia’s electoral laws: An important step toward free and fair elections

European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos assessed that the adoption of four electoral laws in the Serbian Parliament represents an important step toward free and fair elections, and announced continued cooperation with the authorities on the remaining reforms.
In a post on the social media platform X, she stated that the European Union would continue to work closely with the Serbian authorities to ensure the adoption of the two remaining key laws, concerning the fight against corruption and the financing of political activities.
"I welcome Serbia’s adoption of four electoral laws following the recommendations of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). We will continue our close cooperation with the Serbian authorities, with the aim of adopting the two remaining key laws", Kos wrote.

As a reminder, the Serbian Parliament adopted a package of electoral laws on Wednesday, including amendments to the Law on the Election of the President of the Republic, amendments to the Law on the Election of Members of Parliament, the Law on Local Elections, and the Law on the Constitutional Court.
The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, will pay an official visit to the People’s Republic of China from May 24th to 28th, according to a statement issued by the President’s Media Cooperation Office.
