The U.S. Ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, stated at the Belgrade Security Conference that it is crucial to support the EU-led dialogue and that significant efforts are needed to normalize relations between Serbia and Kosovo.
"It is very important to move those processes ahead and create the conditions for a normalized relationship. But clearly there is a lot of work that has to be done there, but it’s something that is going to bridge this administration and the next because it will not be done immediately. A lot of work needs to be done in terms of getting to the status of a normalized relationship between Serbia and Kosovo," Hill emphasized.
He added that the EU’s Special Representative for Belgrade Pristina Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák, has introduced many positive proposals addressing various topics, including the establishment of the Association of Serb Municipalities.
"These measures need to be implemented. Ultimately, I think if everyone can follow what Mr. Lajčák is setting out we will be in a better place. I think we’ve certainly lost some momentum for a number of reasons, and I think it is important to get back on track," the U.S. Ambassador concluded.
The relationship between Belgrade and Beijing serves as a model of international cooperation, stated Chinese Ambassador Li Ming.
