Appeals Court in Nis Annuls Indictment Confirmation for the Murder of Danka Ilic
The Appeals Court in Nis annulled the ruling that confirmed the indictment against Srdjan J. and Dejan D., suspects in the murder of two-year-old Danka Ilic.
By accepting the appeals filed by the defense attorneys, the Appeals Court overturned the decision and referred the case back to the first-instance court for reconsideration, as stated in the court's announcement.
The Chief Public Prosecutor at the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Zajecar, Miodrag Canovic, confirmed to Newsmax Balkans that the Higher Court in Zajecar has confirmed the indictment in the case of Danka Ilic.
The indictment accuses Srdjan J. and Dejan D. of aggravated murder as co-perpetrators, while Radoslav D. is charged with aiding the perpetrators after the crime and failing to report the crime and its perpetrators.
The prosecution has proposed life imprisonment for Srdjan J. and Dejan D.
It is suspected that on March 26, in Banj Field near Bor, Srdjan J. and Dejan D., employees of the local water utility company, struck the two-year-old girl with their vehicle and then placed her in the car.
They allegedly disposed of her body at a landfill, later moving it. The girl’s body has not yet been found.
Radoslav D. is suspected of assisting his son in relocating the girl’s body. Dejan D.’s brother, Dalibor, died on April 7 in police custody in Bor during detention.
