Following his meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic emphasized that Serbia seeks no conflicts, and that the country requires rapid economic development.
Lammy stressed that a stable and secure Western Balkans is crucial for the United Kingdom and that Serbia plays a fundamental role in ensuring regional stability.
President Vucic noted that relations between the two countries have improved, as reflected in the balanced trade exchange between Serbia and the UK.
He also stated that they discussed regional issues and agreed that, despite differing views, dialogue is the key to resolving problems.
"We do not want conflicts. We are making excellent progress, and rapid economic development is essential for us," Vucic stated.
Serbia and the United Kingdom signed three memorandums of understanding:
Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Serbia and the UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade, acting through the Export Credit Guarantee Department, which operates as UK Export Finance. It was signed by Serbia’s acting Finance Minister, Sinisa Mali, and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
Memorandum of Understanding between the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the UK Home Office on strengthening cooperation in combating organized crime in migration matters. It was signed by Serbia’s acting Interior Minister, Ivica Dacic, and Lammy.
Memorandum of Understanding between the Serbian Ministry of Information and Telecommunications and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. It was signed by Serbia’s acting Minister of Information and Telecommunications, Dejan Ristic, and Lammy.
Following the signing ceremony, both President Vucic and Foreign Secretary Lammy will address the media.
The President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic has continued consultations regarding the candidate for Prime Minister with representatives of two more electoral lists – "Ivica Dacic – Prime Minister of Serbia" and "Aleksandar Vucic – Serbia Must Not Stop."
