Among the participants is the Serbian delegation, led by Minister without portfolio responsible for gender equality, political and economic empowerment of women, Tatjana Macura.

According to the Minister, Serbia has made significant progress in the field of gender equality in recent years.

"In this sense, it can serve as an example of good practice in the Western Balkans region. Serbia made a politically important decision by appointing a dedicated minister for this area, which is still rare in the region", Macura stated.

During the session, Macura is taking part in numerous international events and meetings.

Her office is also organizing a special event at the United Nations dedicated to the role of women in building international alliances.

This year’s session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women brings together political leaders, international organizations, activists, and public figures from around the world.

The focus is on advancing the rights of women and girls, strengthening legal systems, and eliminating discriminatory laws and policies.

Panels also address women’s economic empowerment, greater political participation, and the position of older women in society.

Speeches by well-known public figures and UN goodwill ambassadors attracted great attention, including Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway, who spoke about the importance of global solidarity and greater investment in education and women’s rights.
