Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated that the visit to China is of great importance for Serbia and expressed hope that more than 30 agreements and arrangements will be signed.
After visiting the Great Wall of China, he said that China is a reliable partner and friend of Serbia, with whom the country can accomplish a great deal, emphasizing that he believes his visit, which will last until May 28, will be successful.
As Vucic is visiting China at the invitation of President Xi, he will be accommodated in the state residence, where leaders such as Russian President Vladimir Putin, former U.S. President Richard Nixon, and former German Chancellor Angela Merkel stayed during their visits to Beijing.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, stated that according to data from Eurostat, Serbia, together with Cyprus, was the fastest-growing economy in Europe in the first quarter of this year.
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said that cities are environments where creativity, innovation, and the diverse talents of young people are encouraged, and where new ideas and solutions are developed to improve the everyday lives of communities.
He thanked the hosts for their hospitality and pointed out that Serbian flags had been displayed throughout the city alongside Chinese flags and the flags of Pakistan, whose prime minister is also visiting China.
Asked to comment on reports in foreign media claiming that he is approaching a “red line” with the EU because of Serbia’s relations with China and Russia, Vucic said that for years he has been hearing narratives predicting that he would “get into trouble,” but stressed that Serbia has its own interests and focuses on its own affairs.

"I will have very important meetings with EU representatives in the near future. First, I was supposedly not allowed to seek talks and dialogue with the Russian Federation. Then they almost wanted to forbid me from speaking with people from our own country, even though I had requested that from the very beginning. Now they want to forbid cooperation with China as well. They might as well make me a list of who I am and am not allowed to speak with. Otherwise, what is the point of having a president, a government, or anyone else? Someone could simply govern by email or fax from some center of power", Vucic said.

This visit to Beijing comes at a key moment, as the President of Serbia is the third world leader to meet with the Chinese President in May, following Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin and United States President Donald Trump, further underscoring the exceptional importance China places on relations with global leaders and strategic partners, such as Serbia.
During the visit, more than 30 agreements will be signed, along with several contracts with Chinese companies.
