"Joy, excitement, and pure happiness on this incredible morning! Alon Ohel and his family are reunited after two years and five days in captivity. Thank you all for your support, faith, and perseverance. Special thanks to the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and the Serbian government, the governments of Israel and Germany, and everyone else for their concrete support from the very beginning. A well-deserved heroic welcome for U.S. President Donald Trump in Tel Aviv", Djuric wrote on X.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the Red Cross had informed them that seven hostages had been taken over from Hamas in Gaza, including Israeli-Serbian captive Alon Ohel.

Ohel had been attending the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, near Re’im, when Hamas terrorists entered Israel.

In April, his family revealed that they had received information from released hostages indicating that Ohel had lost sight in one eye.
