According to a statement from Telekom Srbija, the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) has granted final approval for financing that will support the further development of Telekom Srbija’s 5G network.

The EXIM-backed financing will help implement the procurement of equipment for the 5G telecommunications network and related services in Serbia, provided by American technology companies.

The company emphasized that this represents an important milestone in Telekom Srbija’s long-term investment program and further strengthens the company’s ties with American financial and technology institutions.

Telekom Srbija commercially launched 5G services in Serbia in December 2025 and continues expanding coverage across the country. The company plans to provide 5G coverage in all cities in Serbia by the end of 2026, while full nationwide coverage is planned by the end of 2027.

This financing follows the preliminary support approved by EXIM Bank in December 2024 for the preparation and development of Telekom Srbija’s 5G network and represents the next step in cooperation with American institutions and technology partners, the statement said.

Lucic: This Is a Historic Approval

Telekom Srbija Group CEO Vladimir Lucic stated that this is a "historic approval" for the company and for the development of next-generation digital infrastructure in the region.

"Our cooperation with EXIM Bank and leading American technology partners confirms the confidence of major international institutions in Telekom Srbija’s strategy, financial strength, and long-term growth. This gives us access to competitive financing and accelerates the development of the 5G network, benefiting users, businesses, and the Serbian economy", Lucic said.

He added that the approval comes at a time of growing international confidence in the company’s financial and strategic development.

In 2025, Telekom Srbija generated revenues of €2.3 billion, representing growth of 28.1 percent compared to the previous year, while adjusted EBITDA amounted to €1.3 billion, up 51.3 percent.

The company also recently received updated credit ratings from Fitch Ratings, Moody’s, and S&P Global, which, according to the statement, strengthened its credit profile.

Additionally, Telekom Srbija returned to the international capital market with a new bond offering, following its previous $900 million Eurobond issuance, which was the first corporate issuance of its kind from the Western Balkans.

The development of the 5G network is expected to enable faster mobile connectivity, new digital services, and broader adoption of advanced technologies in Serbia, as well as contribute to preparations for EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, the company statement added.
