SNS President After Consultations with Vucic on Candidate for Prime Minister: Choice Narrowed Down to Two Individuals
The President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic has continued consultations regarding the candidate for Prime Minister with representatives of two more electoral lists – "Ivica Dacic – Prime Minister of Serbia" and "Aleksandar Vucic – Serbia Must Not Stop."
Miloš Vucevic, President of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), stated that the party, along with its coalition partners from the elections, supports forming a new government. He added that the choice for the prime ministerial mandate has been narrowed down to two individuals.
"Within the next 24 hours, or at most 36, I will inform the President about the nominee, that is, the individual we believe should be entrusted with the mandate," Vucevic said following consultations with President Vucic.
At the end of the first session of the first regular sitting of the Serbian Parliament, the resignation of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic was acknowledged, thus ending the mandate of the Government of Serbia.
Speaking to journalists, he noted that a parliamentary majority exists and that they believe there are both legal and legitimate conditions to elect a new government by April 18, which is the deadline defined by law following the official acknowledgment of the Prime Minister’s resignation.
According to Vucevic, the party’s leadership will make the final decision on the nominee for Prime Minister.
