Serbian Armed Forces Day is celebrated in commemoration of the Second Serbian Uprising, which took place on April 23, 1815, and laid the foundation for the creation of the modern Serbian state and military.

Serbian Armed Forces Day in Commemoration of the Second Serbian Uprising

On Monday, members of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard conducted an honorary artillery salute from the Sava Terrace at Kalemegdan to mark Serbian Armed Forces Day – April 23, in accordance with the order of the President of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vucic.

The honorary artillery salute, consisting of 10 volleys from six artillery pieces, was attended by the Minister of Defense Bratislav Gasic and the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilovic.

On the occasion of Armed Forces Day, an exhibition titled The Worthy – Significant Anniversaries of Modern Serbian History Through Military Museum’s Collection of Medals” was opened at the Military Museum Gallery in Kalemegdan.
