The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dacic, stated that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued an arrest warrant for the Kosovo police officer who physically assaulted and injured a Serbian high school student.
The statement emphasized that police officer will be arrested once he becomes available to Serbian police, “from today onward, with no statute of limitations, whenever it becomes possible.”
To recall, a video was published on social media showing an incident in Kosovska Mitrovica, where a member of the Kosovo police can be seen grabbing a Serbian high school graduate by the neck during their celebration of the end of the school year.
As seen in the video, the graduates were celebrating the end of school as they do every year, walking along the promenade in North Mitrovica. Some men sitting in a nearby café were seen making the double-headed eagle gesture, which is considered a symbol of Greater Albania by the Serbian community.
At one point, a Kosovo police officer ran up to one of the graduates in the procession and aggressively grabbed him by the neck.
The video shows the officer holding the young man and speaking to him in Albanian, accusing him of provocation.
