Basic Court in Pristina: No Serbian Flags or Symbols During Vidovdan Celebration in Kosovo

In response, the Serbian List announced that the competent authorities of the Municipality of Gracanica will file an appeal against the decision.

At the same time, the Serbian List demands that the same court also respond to the display of the Albanian flag in the plenary hall of the Pristina Assembly by Albin Kurti, particularly in a situation where no Albanian official was present or attending the session as a guest.

"We demand that the Basic Court in Pristina apply the same standards and its own reasoning in cases involving the Albanian flag – especially considering that members of the Serbian List have, for years, submitted proposals to have Vidovdan legally defined as a holiday of the Serbian people, which has been consistently obstructed in the parliament," the statement said.

It further adds that the decision of the Basic Court in Pristina is nothing more than yet another indicator of the regime’s attitude in Pristina towards the Serbian people and that the timing of the decision is directly linked to the upcoming local elections and represents an attempt to score cheap political points.

The court in Pristina justified the decision by stating that allowing the display of another country’s flag (Serbia), except in cases provided by law, may be interpreted as a symbolic act of dual sovereignty or political self-organization, thus violating the constitutional order.
