President Vucic Receives Letters of Credence from the New EU Ambassador to Serbia
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic received the letters of credence from the new Ambassador of the European Union to Serbia, Andreas von Beckerath, and on that occasion reiterated that EU membership remains Serbia’s strategic goal.
He expressed confidence that Ambassador von Beckerath’s extensive experience would contribute to deepening relations and enhancing comprehensive cooperation with EU institutions.
“I look forward to open dialogue and fruitful cooperation in addressing common challenges and achieving goals that benefit the citizens of Serbia and the entire European continent,” Vucic concluded.
Who Is Andreas von Beckerath?
Andreas von Beckerath (54) previously served as Sweden’s ambassador to Poland. Over nearly 30 years of diplomatic service, he has held numerous positions in Sweden’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its foreign missions.
He has worked at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs since September 1999.
Minister of Justice Nenad Vujic stated that by amending the Constitution and the Law on Enforcement and Security (ZIO), Serbia would align with Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which guarantees the right to a home.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia has announced that it recommends Serbian citizens refrain from traveling to the Republic of Croatia between August 1 and 10, 2025.
President Aleksandar Vucic indicated that Serbia will not impose sanctions against the Russian Federation, and that the country will continue to lead a principled policy.
According to his biography, from 2002 to 2006 he was a rapporteur for Europe at the Ministry in Stockholm. From August 2006 to August 2010, he was the political advisor at the Swedish Embassy in Berlin.
He later served as deputy head of mission at the Swedish Embassy in London, and in September 2013 was appointed ambassador to Ukraine.
He served as Sweden’s ambassador to Ukraine until September 2016. During the Maidan uprising, he was one of the European diplomats who warned of police brutality.
From November 2016 to August 2017, he headed the Department for Conflicts and Humanitarian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Stockholm, and then served as head of the Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
In October 2023, he was appointed Sweden’s ambassador to Warsaw, where he served until his appointment in Belgrade.
He was born on January 16, 1971, is married, and has two children.

Šumadijski seljak, Jeremija Nedić, 1910. godine, nakon samo jednog razgovora, postao je pobratim Tomaša Masarika i doživotno je u ovoj državi priman uz najveće počasti.

Komentarišući aktuelne višemesečne proteste u Srbiji, gost Sinteze je istakao da se u zemlji dešava bunt koji je počeo od anarhističkog modela, a postao je svestudentski. "Studenti govore da je plenum početak i kraj, a da oni pojedinačno nisu dovoljno važni da bi rekli svoje ime i prezime. I devedesetih i sada vodimo borbu oko vrednosti. Lepo je što je jedna generacija našla uzvišeni cilj. Nažalost, istorija često pokazuje da uzvišeni ciljevi dovedu do kontraefekta", naveo je Antić. Gost Sinteze je istakao da ovde nije reč o borbi demokratske protiv autoritarne Srbije. "Ne bori se demokratska Srbija protiv autoritarne Srbije, već se totalitarna Srbija bori protiv autoritarne Srbije. Studenti su uveli blokade, a nisu nikog pitali", istakao je Antić. Antić je naveo da bi bilo dobro da studenti što pre proglase pobedu. "To što predsednik govori da kontrarevolucija nije dobro. SNS rizikuje da sve izgubi. Bilo bi dobro da naredene godine imamo demokratske izbore", zaključio je gost.
