Gert Jan Kopman Meets with Serbian Officials to Discuss Reforms and EU Path

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Kopman to discuss current developments in Serbia and the region, Serbia’s European integration path, reforms, and possibilities for accelerating the fulfillment of the European agenda.

Vucic wrote on Instagram that he informed his interlocutor about the results achieved and opportunities to accelerate progress on the European agenda.

"I emphasized the importance of internal consensus and comprehensive dialogue when it comes to implementing key reforms in the country and stressed that our goal remains a better life for our citizens and preserving regional stability. At the same time, I expressed confidence that our efforts will be recognized and acknowledged by the EU," Vucic said.

Kopman also met with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali, who said they discussed the reforms Serbia is implementing and the political situation in the country.

"I took this opportunity to thank the European Union for its continued support, which is very important to us. We are committed to the EU accession process and the EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans and all the opportunities this process will bring," Mali stated on Instagram.

He emphasized that formal recognition of Serbia’s achievements on its path, as well as continued maintenance of those results and regional stability, is crucial.

Kopman is also scheduled to meet with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ana Brnabic, Minister for European Integration Nemanja Starovic, and representatives of parliamentary opposition parties and civil society organizations.
