According to the Chamber, Cadez stated that the initiative to modernize this railway corridor was launched by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Croatian Chamber of Economy, later joined by the Adriatic–Ionian Initiative. As noted, this underscores the importance of the project for all the countries in the region – Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, and others.
“We want to try to revive this route and accelerate the process, because it is important for all of us. The economies of Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy depend on it,” Cadez said, adding that a significant share of Serbia’s exports, as well as imports, passes through the ports of Rijeka and Koper, which lie along this route.
He added that the meeting, which will take place on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, is a good opportunity to once again discuss the initiative with representatives of all member states and highlight the necessity of the project.
Cadez also announced that he will invite member states of the Central European Initiative to attend the upcoming Wine Vision fair, where a meeting will also be held on the topic of modernizing the Belgrade–Trieste railway connection.
