United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed Dane Peter N. Due as his new Special Representative and Head of the UN Mission in Kosovo and Metohija (UNMIK). Due has previously worked in both Belgrade and Pristina.

He will succeed Karolina Zijade from Lebanon, whom Secretary-General Guterres thanked for her dedicated efforts to promote peace and stability in Kosovo and the region, as well as for her effective leadership of the Mission.
Karolina Zijade was appointed as Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the UNMIK Mission on November 19, 2021.
