The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated that Serbia has a strategic goal to fulfill all the criteria for EU membership by the end of 2026.
"I’m not saying that we will join the European Union in 2026 or 2027. That decision is not up to us but to the Europeans. However, meeting all the criteria is an extremely ambitious task," the President said in his public address.
Vucic also noted that he considers the invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II a great honor.
In his address, Vucic mentioned the signing of a contract for procuring the world’s most advanced rocket-artillery systems.
He added that the state has already paid the first installment of €472 million for the purchase of Rafale fighter jets.
Commenting on the tragic incident in Novi Sad, where 15 people lost their lives due to the collapse of the roof canopy at the railway station, Vucic expressed his expectation of further resignations within the Serbian government.
Speaking about the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated that every dialogue is better than displays of power and force, emphasizing that issues should be resolved through discussion and negotiation.
