After the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC) revoked the mandate of the President of Republika Srpska, the UN Security Council held closed consultations on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday evening, at Russia’s request.
The CEC’s decision to terminate the mandate came after the Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina upheld an earlier first-instance verdict sentencing Dodik to one year in prison and banning him from political activity for six years “for failing to comply with the decisions of Christian Schmidt.”
Dodik has announced a referendum on himself and the position he holds.
