Trump’s Tariffs Go Into Effect, 35% Rate for Serbia
The tariffs imposed by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, went into effect on August 7, affecting more than 70 countries. As previously announced, the tariff rate for Serbia will be 35%.
As of midnight local time, tariffs ranging from 10% to 50% are being applied to goods from nearly 70 countries, significantly expanding the scope of Trump’s trade policy aimed at reducing the U.S. trade deficit, according to ABC News.
The United States will not postpone the introduction of tariffs for more than 14 countries, including Serbia, scheduled for August 1, U.S. President Donald Trump announced.
The United States and the European Union have signed an agreement introducing reciprocal tariffs of 15 percent on the import of goods and services. Bojan Stanic from the Serbian Chamber of Commerce told Newsmax Balkans that tariffs on Serbian goods could be significantly lower than the announced.
