Minister of Science Jelena Begovic received the flag for the international EXPO 2027 exhibition in Paris, announcing the conclusion of formal negotiations with the Bureau International des Expositions.
She stated that all delegates accepted Belgrade’s candidacy and the proposed infrastructure and overall organization of the event.
Begovic emphasized that Serbia faces a massive undertaking and admitted, “we are already feeling immense pressure” as two and a half years until the exhibition opens is not a long period.
She added that EXPO 2027 represents a significant opportunity for Serbia to showcase its cultural heritage, history, music, innovations, science, and knowledge, aiming to be "the center of the world in 2027 and bring the world to Serbia."
Director of EXPO 2027 Dusan Borovcanin revealed that Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic is going to send formal letters to top officials worldwide on Wednesday.
"We expect formal confirmations of attendance shortly, after which we will begin working individually with each country on their pavilion, how they will respond to the theme and design their spaces. We have an extremely short timeline to coordinate participation with over 100 countries," Borovcanin said.
