Referendum in Republika Srpska on BiH Court’s Ruling Against Dodik to Be Held on October 18 or 25
A referendum regarding the ruling of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the decision of the BiH Central Election Commission to revoke the mandate of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik will be held on October 18 or 25, as decided at a meeting of the ruling coalition.
It was noted that these dates leave sufficient time for the amendments to the Law on Referendum and Citizens’ Initiative, as well as the Decision on Referendum, to go through all decision-making levels – primarily the National Assembly, and subsequently the Council of Peoples and the Constitutional Court of Republika Srpska, should the issue of vital national interest be raised.
The Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has dismissed Milorad Dodik’s appeal against the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) which revoked his mandate as President of Republika Srpska.
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic met in Belgrade with the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik to discuss strengthening economic ties, national unity, and cooperation between Serbia and Srpska in the coming period.
The BiH Central Election Commission (CEC) adopted its decision to terminate Dodik’s mandate on August 6, due to his failure to comply with the decisions of Christian Schmidt.
On August 18, the Appellate Division of the Court of BiH rejected the appeal filed by Dodik’s legal team.
