Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Rejects Appeal; Dodik States He Was Elected by the People and Will Not Respect Decision
The Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has dismissed Milorad Dodik’s appeal against the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) which revoked his mandate as President of Republika Srpska.
As a result, Dodik is officially no longer in office, and the CEC is obliged to call early elections for the presidency of the entity.
It should be recalled that the CEC had previously adopted the decision on the termination of his mandate, but it could only enter into effect upon confirmation by the Appellate Division of the Court of BiH.
At a session of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC BiH), Milorad Dodik's mandate as President of Republika Srpska was revoked.
The United Nations is calling on all parties to cooperate regarding the situation with the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, in order to ensure the rule of law, said UN Secretary-General’s Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq.
Reacting to the rejection of his appeal, Dodik declared that he had been elected by the people and would not be dismissed by a foreign-imposed government.
"They did not respect the Constitution of BiH, they did not respect the Constitution of Republika Srpska, they did not respect the law, and I am supposed to respect their disrespect of everything. I will not respect it. I will respect the will of the Serb people," he said.
It should also be noted that the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued a final judgment sentencing Dodik to one year in prison and imposing a six-year ban on holding the office of President of Republika Srpska for failure to implement the decisions of the High Representative in BiH.
