Kosovo Special Prosecution Requests Warrant for Former President of the Serb List

The spokesperson for the Special Prosecution, Arbnora Ljuta, stated for Koha that hearings had already been conducted with the current leader of the Serb List, Zlatan Elek, as well as with MPs Slavko and Igor Simic, whereas Rakic failed to appear.

"He was summoned three times but did not show up, initially justifying his absence with health-related issues, while for the other two summonses he provided no explanation whatsoever," Ljuta said.

She emphasized that for this reason, the prosecution requested a warrant for Rakic and recalled that warrants had already been issued for 11 individuals in the barricade case.

The barricades in four municipalities in northern Kosovo were dismantled in December 2022, following written guarantees from the European Union and the U.S. State Department that there were no lists for arrest or criminal prosecution of Kosovo Serb citizens for their participation.

In addition to the warrant, Pristina is conducting investigations against nearly 50 individuals on charges including "obstructing an official in the performance of official duties, incitement to resistance, and participation in unconstitutional activities."
