The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced that the State Data Center in Kragujevac has received a Tier IV certification, representing the highest level of reliability and security.
"No country in the region has this. Neither Croatia, Romania, nor Bulgaria, nor any other country in the region holds this certification. In Europe, no one has such a facility owned by the state except us and Poland", the Serbian president stated.
Vucic emphasized that Serbia currently has two supercomputers with this certification, with a third expected to arrive soon.
"Only we and Poland have systems like this serving to preserve national sovereignty, thanks to cooperation with the American company Nvidia and significant investment by our state", Vucic noted.
The president pointed out that there have been two million cyberattacks on state infrastructure over the past six months, all of which were successfully repelled.
"EDS and EPS have transferred their data to the Data Center in Kragujevac. The Tax Administration and Customs will also store their data here, on these supercomputers", Vucic said.
He added that Serbia must not miss the revolution in artificial intelligence and innovative technologies.
"The world is changing rapidly. We must invest heavily in education and must not miss this revolution", Vucic emphasized.
The president also thanked representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Serbia for their partnership, which, as he said, "together with our sincere ambition, is leading Serbia into the future and demonstrating the difference between us and many others."
"New supercomputer seven times faster"
As explained by Mihailo Jovanovic, Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment, modules 3 and 4, each with a capacity of four megawatts, are being brought online.
"The total capacity of the data center is 14 megawatts. The new supercomputer has 48 graphics cards and is seven times faster", he emphasized.
The Data Center in Kragujevac, opened in December 2020, is the most advanced facility of its kind in the region, designed for data and equipment storage.
