The President of the European Council Antonio Costa stated that there is no doubt that the future of the Western Balkans, Ukraine and Moldova lies in the European Union, emphasizing that it is time for the EU to fulfill its promises to these countries, just as they are meeting their own commitments.

In his address to members of the European Parliament, Costa highlighted that EU enlargement was one of the main messages of the December 19 meeting and that the EU is fully committed to enlargement as the greatest geopolitical investment in peace and security for the European people and the continent.
"The six Western Balkan countries, Ukraine, and Moldova are working hard to meet their obligations. There is no doubt that the future of these countries is in our community. It is time for us to fulfill our promises just as they are fulfilling theirs," Costa stated.
