She added that "the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue will remain high on the European Union's agenda."

Last Friday, EU member state ambassadors confirmed Sorensen’s appointment as the new EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue. Final approval must come from the foreign ministers of EU member states before Sorensen can begin his mandate in early February.

Sorensen was proposed for the role by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

The current EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, holds his mandate until January 31.
