Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Anti-Corruption Department of the Criminal Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Special Department for the Suppression of Corruption of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Nis, arrested four individuals.
They were arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of abuse of official position.
Among those detained is the former mayor of Nis Dragana Sotirovski.
They are suspected of obtaining unlawful financial benefits amounting to nearly four million euros to the detriment of the City of Nis.
During the search, 11 vehicles and a significant number of other vehicles, trucks, and construction machinery were seized. The suspects have been detained for up to 48 hours and will be brought before the competent prosecutor's office along with the criminal charges.
