President of Serbia: We will discuss tariffs with the Americans

"For many reasons, this is strange, but to avoid people worrying, we will solve it, we will take care of it. I am sure we will be able to talk with our American partners and with President Trump," Vucic said.

According to him, the tariffs were calculated using a peculiar formula.

"We have different numbers because we rely on Eurostat, while they use some American records that are very strange to us. They calculate the level of trade exchange. They say that if Serbia has a surplus of 600 million, meaning we export 600 million dollars more to America than we import American goods into Serbia, they divide that 600 million by the total trade exchange, which is something over 800 million. And they say that’s 0.74 percent, or 74 percent. Then, when divided by 2, it’s 37 percent," the president explained.

He emphasized that this is an important issue for companies like Jugoimport, Prvi Partizan, and tire manufacturers.
