President of Cyprus Confirms Country’s Participation in EXPO 2027, Vucic Grateful for Support on EU Integration

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, who is on an official visit to Serbia. Christodoulides announced that Cyprus would participate in the specialized exhibition EXPO 2027, which will be held in Belgrade.

At the start of the tête-à-tête meeting with the Serbian President, he emphasized that Cyprus fully supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia.
According to him, the visit is substantial and comes ahead of Cyprus assuming the EU presidency in the first half of 2026.
“I want to send a strong and clear political message about our commitment, about our readiness, to work for substantial progress on the European perspective of Serbia, so I am looking forward to discuss this issue, how we can coordinate our actions in order to see substantial progress,” said Christodoulides.

He also noted that the visit presents an opportunity to discuss the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, especially regarding expanding cooperation in defense and security, as well as tourism.
“We recently participated for the first time in the tourism fair in Belgrade, and we are pleased to have seen a 200% increase in visits to Cyprus,” said the Cypriot President.
Aleksandar Vucic stated that there is a need to enhance trade cooperation with Cyprus, as well as in other sectors. He also thanked the Cypriot President for respecting Serbia’s territorial integrity.

He added that he had analyzed the data carefully and that, while the numbers are quite good, further action is needed on trade exchange, cultural and innovation cooperation, military collaboration, and other areas.
“We consider your people as a brotherly nation and brotherly people, and we'll do our best to work on this rational part of our cooperation, which means to invest huge efforts in order to boost our trade. Also, we can do something about bringing more tourists from Cyprus to Serbia and from Serbia to Cyprus,” Vucic said.
Noting that Cyprus will soon take over the EU presidency, starting January 1, 2026, Vucic said he was eager to hear President Christodoulides’ advice regarding Serbia’s path toward EU membership.
He thanked Cyprus for its strong support of Serbia’s European integration and President Christodoulides for upholding the principles of international public law.
