Vucic met with the IMF Mission to Serbia, led by Mission Chief Annette Kyobe, and emphasized that, despite growing global uncertainty, Serbia has managed to maintain a strong fiscal position, a high level of foreign exchange reserves, and an appropriate monetary policy.

In a post on Instagram, Vucic said he had a significant and substantive meeting with IMF representatives and Mission Chief Annette Kyobe, during which they discussed global economic challenges, their impact on Serbia, and current macroeconomic developments, prospects, and risks.

He added that he summarized some of the results achieved in implementing reforms under the economic program supported by the IMF through the current Policy Coordination Instrument, and that they also discussed proposals for new reform objectives.

"I pointed out that, despite increasing global uncertainty, Serbia continues to maintain a strong fiscal position, high foreign exchange reserves, and an appropriate monetary policy, alongside a responsible approach to public finances, strengthening the investment environment, and implementing reforms", Vucic stated.

He also noted that they exchanged views on global economic challenges and their impact on the region, particularly in light of high energy prices and disruptions in global markets. He stressed the importance of continuing a policy of stability while also investing boldly in the future and working to enhance Serbia’s competitiveness.

"I emphasized that, according to initial estimates, our country’s economic growth could exceed projections, despite our cautious approach to such forecasts", Vucic said.

As one of the key drivers of growth in the coming period, he highlighted investments related to the organization of the specialized EXPO 2027 exhibition, which Serbia will host.

He recalled that fiscal policy remains stable and focused on deficit control, while public debt is declining. He particularly underlined that public investments remain high and aligned with preserving the stability of public finances, which, as he said, makes them one of the key pillars of further economic growth.

"I believe that cooperation with the IMF in the coming period, through the continued successful implementation of the arrangement, will remain a strong support for our efforts to build a secure, stable, and prosperous Serbia", Vucic stated.

The IMF Mission is staying in Serbia until May 5 as part of an advisory instrument that does not include financial assistance, but rather supports reforms and economic policy.

Previous reviews of the implementation of the economic program were completed in June and December 2025 with positive assessments by the IMF Executive Board, noting that Serbia is conducting a stable and credible economic policy.
