Among them is the Law on Public Media Services, which for the first time will establish the institution of an ombudsperson for viewers, listeners, and readers.
Also presented to interested professionals and representatives of international organizations were the Law on Public Information in the Media and the Law on Electronic Media, according to a statement from the Ministry.
The proposed amendments include a provision introducing the institution of an ombudsperson for viewers, listeners, and readers for the first time.
All proposed changes and additions to the other two media laws were drafted entirely in line with the European Commission’s recommendations and Serbia’s Media Strategy.
Representatives of journalist and media associations, as well as media experts, shared their impressions of the draft laws and offered suggestions for further improvement during the upcoming harmonization with the European Media Freedom Act.
Over six months of intensive discussions with the European Commission resulted in full alignment of all three draft laws, the statement said.
Adopting these laws is considered one of the key conditions for opening Cluster 3 in Serbia’s negotiations with the European Union.
