Therefore, Nis will be the first city in Serbia to offer this type of public transportation.
Ivan Grmusa, a member of the city council in Nis, said that the idea of this pilot project is to get a company that rents scooters via a public call.
"Our goal is to introduce another type of public transport, mostly related to micromobility in the city. City transport in Nis is free, and our idea is to have places with electric scooters next to the bus stops," said Grmusa.
He added that electric scooters will be used throughout the city.
When asked how everything will work, Grmusa explained that there will be a phone application for renting the scooters.
"There will be a GPS device built into the scooter itself, and based on that information we will get the routes that users will use the most. We will use this as a basis for planning the infrastructure. Our goal is to create a study. Based on that study, we will make a city decision and, let's say, the permanent introduction of a new public transport system in the city," explained our interlocutor.
