Asked by a Newsmax Balkans journalist whether the introduction of a state of emergency was being considered, Vucic said that this was the last resort.
“The procedure is complicated. The consent of the president and the prime minister is required, but the matter must also go before the National Assembly, as the Assembly declares a state of emergency. We have not considered that. We have enough measures we can take in accordance with the law. This is the last resort, and I would not like us to consider it,” Vucic stressed.
In his address to the nation, the President said that all that remains for the protesters “is to start killing people, and even then they will blame the government.”
He stated that Serbia, following the example of countries that have fought various forms of terrorism, will continue to fight.
Vucic also assessed that the conversation between U.S. President Donald Tramp and Russian President Vladimir Putin is of crucial importance for humanity, Europe, and of exceptional importance for Serbia, since, if peace is achieved, existing tensions will be reduced or disappear, which would help establish economic cooperation with those two countries and others, and allow Serbia to focus on resolving other issues.
