Vucic Meets with Sorensen: Dialogue must refocus on establishing the CSM and protecting the rights of Serbs

According to Vucic, the discussion was open and focused on possibilities for continuing the dialogue with Pristina under EU mediation, as well as on the challenges faced regarding the position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.

“I pointed out that it is of essential importance to return the dialogue to the fundamental principles on which it was originally based, above all to the obligation of establishing the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM), as well as to the protection of the rights of our citizens in Kosovo and Metohija,” Vucic stated on Instagram.

He emphasized that the attempt to ban the participation of the Srpska lista in the upcoming elections once again confirms that respect for fundamental rights and freedoms of political activity of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija is under threat.

“Our policy is a policy of peace, firmly committed to seeking compromise solutions through dialogue, but also to a determined and responsible struggle for the preservation of state and national interests,” President Vucic underlined.

He noted that only through mutual respect, clear responsibility, and full implementation of agreed commitments can one speak of genuine stability for the entire region.

Sorensen assumed the position of EU Special Representative for the Belgrade–Pristina Dialogue on February 1, succeeding Miroslav Lajcak.
