Minister of Health: Serbian Citizens Will Be Able to Undergo Organ Transplants in Belarus at the Expense of the State

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, the Belarusian side has achieved remarkable results in the area of organ transplantation, while in Serbia – despite a significant increase in the number of donors this year – a waiting list still exists.

At the meeting, it was agreed that Serbian citizens will be able to undergo organ transplants in Belarus at the expense of the Serbian state. Specialized teams from both countries will soon be formed to work closely together to make this cooperation as effective and efficient as possible.

The legal and regulatory framework for this type of cooperation will be provided by a Memorandum of Understanding, which the two ministers signed today in Minsk.

The hosts also introduced Minister Loncar to the work, capacities, and functioning of the prestigious state institution Minsk Scientific and Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantology, and Hematology, where most organ transplants in Belarus are performed and where Serbian citizens will be able to undergo such procedures.
