According to the statement, the decision was made with a goal shared by both parties - that it is, at this moment, in the best interest of KK Crvena zvezda.

Janis Sferopulos was appointed head coach of KK Crvena zvezda Meridianbet on October 21, 2023, and during his tenure until October 2025, he won four trophies with the club - the ABA League, two Radivoj Korac Cups, and the Serbian Championship, while the team also reached the EuroLeague playoffs last season.

Over two years on Crvena zvezda’s bench, he led the first team in 145 games, recording 90 wins and 55 losses.

"The club would like to take this opportunity to thank Coach Janis Sferopulos for everything he has accomplished on Crvena zvezda’s bench, for the way he represented the club with dignity both on and off the court, and for all he has done to elevate the club to a higher level. We wish him much luck, health, and professional success in the continuation of his career", the club’s website stated.
