"To progress toward the EU, Serbia needs a framework that ensures free and fair elections and enjoys the trust of its citizens," Kos said on X.

Earlier, members of the National Assembly of Serbia adopted amendments to the Law on the Unified Electoral Roll, providing for the establishment of a commission tasked with the authority to revise the Unified Electoral Roll.

The amendments are the result of a parliamentary dialogue on improving electoral conditions, which began in April 2024, based on reports from OSCE and ODIHR election observation missions in Serbia.

As noted in the explanation of the amendments, the dialogue was conducted in accordance with ODIHR’s first priority recommendation from the Final Report on the extraordinary parliamentary elections held on 17 December 2023.
