Kos Welcomes Adoption of the Law on the Unified Electoral Roll: An Important Step
European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marja Kos, welcomed the adoption of the Law on the Unified Electoral Roll in the National Assembly of Serbia, stating that it is an "important step" and that Brussels "looks forward to the law’s implementation in practice."
"To progress toward the EU, Serbia needs a framework that ensures free and fair elections and enjoys the trust of its citizens," Kos said on X.

The President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, met in Brussels with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, stating that the talks about Serbia’s European path were good.
The amendments are the result of a parliamentary dialogue on improving electoral conditions, which began in April 2024, based on reports from OSCE and ODIHR election observation missions in Serbia.
As noted in the explanation of the amendments, the dialogue was conducted in accordance with ODIHR’s first priority recommendation from the Final Report on the extraordinary parliamentary elections held on 17 December 2023.
