The Central Election Commission (CEC) in Pristina has announced the preliminary results of the second round of municipal elections in Kosovo and Metohija (KiM).
According to the initial results, the Self-Determination Movement (Vetevendosje) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) each won seven municipalities, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) won six, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) won five, while the Serb List (Srpska lista) won ten municipalities.
Out of 38 municipalities in Kosovo and Metohija, following today’s second round of mayoral elections held in 18 municipalities, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) won in Pristina, Pec, Dragas, Vitina, and Junik. The Self-Determination Movement won in South Mitrovica, Kosovo Polje, Gnjilane, and Obilic, while the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo prevailed in Djakovica, Suva Reka, Klina, and Orahovac. The Democratic Party of Kosovo won in Prizren, Vucitrn, and Kacanik, and the Serb List achieved a convincing victory in Klokot.
Member of Parliament from the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on the Judiciary, Ugljesa Mrdic, who has been on a hunger strike for eleven days in front of the National Assembly building, has been transported to the Emergency Center.
The President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, stated after a meeting with the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, that there are many areas in which the two parliaments are working together and that cooperation can become even more intensive.
The CEC results do not yet include votes sent by mail or those of people with disabilities and developmental difficulties.
The CEC Chairman, Kreshnik Radoniqi, told reporters in Pristina that diaspora votes are expected early next week.
According to him, the votes will be sent tomorrow and the day after, while in countries where Monday and Tuesday are public holidays, they will be sent on Wednesday.
Elek: Convincing Victory in Klokot
The President of the Serb List, Zlatan Elek, announced that the party had achieved a great and historic victory for the Serb List and the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, stating that tonight’s results are "more than excellent" - the Serb List scored a convincing victory in the municipality of Klokot with 948 votes, or 90.03 percent of valid ballots, and thus secured all 10 municipalities with a Serb majority, where Serbs will have both mayors and assembly majorities from the ranks of their party.
"This victory is not just an electoral result - it is a victory of Serbian unity, harmony, and faith in the collective strength of our people," said Zlatan Elek, according to the party’s statement.
He added that this success is the best proof that when Serbs are united, they can achieve anything.
"The Serbian people have once again shown maturity, responsibility, and an unwavering belief in unity," Elek said.
"We are proud that our people recognized that the Serb List is the only true political force of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija - one that has the clear support of our state, Serbia, and President Aleksandar Vucic," Elek said in the Serb List’s press release.
"That very support, together with the unity of our people, represents the foundation on which we build the survival, security, and future of the Serbian people in these areas. This victory is also a message to all those who, through pressure, hybrid actions, and lies, tried to weaken the Serb List and its leadership - that the Serbian people know the truth and stand by their representatives. When we are united, no one can shake us," Elek added.
