Vucic: Talks Underway with Several Companies on Taking Over Russian Ownership in NIS

He added that talks are underway with several companies about taking over the Russian-owned stake and that he believes everything will turn out well.

"I believe things will be fine, because although they have received letters from several companies negotiating the transfer of ownership and are informed about almost everything, I am not sure they have agreed on the price, and I hope they will," Aleksandar Vucic told TV Informer.

He announced that on Sunday he will officially address OFAC and send his formal statement that all conditions will be met, asking them to give Serbia time and a license so that the refinery’s operations are not halted.

"We have reserves, and even if the refinery stops operating, we are trying to find a way to manage," Vucic said.

He expressed hope that the United States will accept the offer if they wish to demonstrate a partnership-based approach toward Serbia.

"I keep looking at my phone, waiting for more information, and I am worried – but you should not be," Vucic said.
