Vucic emphasized that this achievement is the result of cooperation among Balkan countries, as “we are closest to each other.”

“I must say it is almost unbelievable that in such a short time we have managed to reach fourth place in Europe in terms of the wine level this fair has. Ahead of us are only Italy, Düsseldorf, and Paris. There is no other place ahead of Belgrade, ahead of the Open Balkan,” Vucic said in his address.

He added that he knows that in each of our countries - Serbia, Albania, and North Macedonia - there are always more pressing matters, because “we always have major challenges and important issues to resolve,” but that our cooperation is extremely important.

“And we have always thought that cooperation with the major powers is much more important than cooperation among ourselves. My opinion was, and remains today - with much more experience than before - that this is one of our biggest mistakes. Cooperation among us is important and often far more important than cooperation with the big powers. The big players come for their own interests and that’s it, while we can progress faster together and help each other more. We are closer to one another, and whatever trouble befalls us, we are ready to come to each other’s aid. That is why this type of cooperation is crucial for us,” Vucic stressed.

He thanked the Serbian team, who, he said, worked miraculously with the help of their colleagues.

“But the Serbian team invested the most energy and the most money, and I thank all of you who worked diligently and tirelessly, day and night, to organize one of the largest fairs,” Vucic said.

Vucic noted that nearly all important Serbian winemakers and winemakers from North Macedonia are present at the fair, as well as the best winemakers from Albania - six in total.

“I would say almost all of their top wineries. The fair features 63 wineries from Italy, one of the two or three largest wine-producing countries in the world - it’s always a rivalry between France and Italy. From France, 18 or 19 wineries are present. We also have

participants from Portugal, Spain, and many other countries. And this is a huge success for the Wine Vision of the Open Balkan. They are competing for our market, because our wine market is a growing market, unlike some in the West, where these markets no longer grow. In Serbia, people live better, more wine is being consumed, people have more money, and they want to be present here,” Vucic said.

The fair will last until November 25 and features around 600 domestic and international exhibitors from 34 countries.
