"I believe Serbia is on the right path, that we have fulfilled a high percentage of the accession elements required by the European Union, and that we are on track to meet some of our deadlines by the end of the year and continue with new tasks next year", Macut told Tanjug.

He emphasized that the main topics of the summit concerned the economy and transport, specifically the connectivity of the region.

"We had the opportunity to discuss issues previously raised at the London summit, such as the regional free-roaming zone in the Western Balkans, which is extremely important. What we have already initiated and encouraged is communication among transporters, those who drive trucks in the Schengen area, since the Western Balkan countries are excluded from that part. Therefore, we are proposing a new methodology for calculating the period of stay, and together with the United Kingdom, we will submit this to the European Commission as soon as possible", Macut said.

He described his participation in today’s summit as very practical and constructive.

"Serbia has maintained its strategic position and its approach to the entire process in Europe, that is, in the EU, as a consistently reliable partner in this whole process", Macut said.

Prime Minister Macut took part in the Western Balkans leaders’ summit in Tirana, where he was welcomed by Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama.
