"An exceptionally productive meeting with the World Bank delegation, focused on Serbia’s energy security, the progress of active projects we are jointly working on, as well as plans for the accelerated development of our country across several different areas", Vucic posted on Instagram after the meeting.
He noted that they exchanged views on the far-reaching challenges facing the energy sector at the global level, and particularly within the region.
"In this context, I emphasized that Serbia’s cooperation with the World Bank relies to a great extent on the insights and practical solutions provided by this institution, whose extensive experience in planning capital energy projects opens up opportunities for our country to successfully and swiftly implement ambitious plans regarding the diversification of supply sources and the country’s energy security", Vucic said.
As he added, special emphasis was placed on the development of new gas and oil infrastructure, as well as on energy efficiency measures for public and residential buildings.
"We also discussed the World Bank’s latest report on Serbia, and I expressed my gratitude for the realistic assessments highlighting the fact that Serbia’s economy has demonstrated resilience to recent shocks thanks to responsible fiscal policy and efforts to reduce public debt. I thanked the World Bank delegation for the excellent cooperation, with an agreement on the next steps", Vucic emphasized.
