The initiative came from MP Sasa Magazinovic of the Social Democratic Party. This decision means that cannabis, previously classified under Column 1 – strictly prohibited – has now been moved to Column 2, where its use is allowed under strict control. Column 2 already includes substances such as opium, morphine, and a range of other agents used for medical purposes.

Magazinovic expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Dubravka Bosnjak, for her support.

He emphasized that this achievement was preceded by years of struggle, obstruction, and perseverance, but that it was all worthwhile due to the pleas of the people for whom this decision represents both a victory and relief.
