Djuric stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia is currently gathering relevant information regarding developments in Iran and the wider region.

He recalled that three months ago the Ministry advised Serbian citizens not to travel to the territory of Iran.

“Our embassy in Tehran is providing consular and other assistance to our citizens, of whom there are very few currently in Iran. What I can also say is that we advise our citizens who find themselves in areas of active hostilities to follow the instructions of public authorities to go to shelters and take all other necessary measures in accordance with embassy recommendations to protect their own safety", Djuric said in an appearance on RTS.

The head of Serbian diplomacy recalled that during the previous conflict, the Embassy of Serbia organized an evacuation and added that, in line with needs and possibilities, the same would be done this time if necessary.

"Our citizens can always rely on their state", Djuric added.

Call for Citizens to Leave Iran

The Minister noted that eight days ago he reiterated the call for Serbian citizens currently in Iran to leave the country, due to heightened tensions and risks.

"I repeated our call, which has been in effect for more than three months, for citizens to refrain from traveling to that region. At present, there is a relatively small number of our citizens in the region, but some are still there, and of course our embassy remains at their disposal", Djuric added.
