An explosive device was thrown near the municipality building in Zvecan just before midnight. There were no injuries, but material damage was reported, said Veton Eljsani, Deputy Commander of the Kosovo Police for the Northern Region.
He stated that the device was most likely a hand grenade M-75.
"The grenade caused damage to the municipality building and to four cars that were parked near the municipality building," Eljsani said.
On Thursday, there was an increased police presence in the Zvecan area because the Albanian Flag Day was being celebrated for the first time in the municipality of Zvecan.
In this context, a group of Albanians in Gracanica chanted "Kosovo, Kosovo," waving Albanian flags.
The residents of Gracanica were disturbed by the chanting of the Albanians, and those who were near the event were too afraid to go outside. Several Albanians were detained.
The mayor of Gracanica, Ljiljana Subaric, strongly condemned the provocation, emphasizing that it was a "well-planned event aimed at demonstrating power and causing fear among the people."
