In less than three months since its launch, the Newsmax Balkans portal has achieved great success - winning 7th place in the audience vote for the best regional news portal of 2024, while the jury ranked it in 8th place.
With the total number of points, it secured 9th place, while the winner was the Croatian portal Telegram.
As announced by Media Daily, a specialized portal for the media and telecommunications industry that organized the award for the regional news portal of the year for the seventh time, choosing a winner was not easy.
"As one of the members of the seven-member international jury says, almost every one of the 20 nominated portals could have been the winner due to the small differences between them. Therefore, it is an honor and privilege to even be nominated, especially when considering that there are thousands of portals in the regional market," the statement said.
The selection involved 20 news portals from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.
Reader votes accounted for 30% of the total points, while the remaining 70% was given by the jury, which evaluated the following criteria: originality and innovation in writing style, the presentation of photos/videos on the portal; visual appearance of the portal and user-friendliness; adherence to professional and ethical journalism codes.
