Serbia's Prime Minister Receives the Flag of the Specialized Expo 2027
The Director of the company "Expo 2027," Dusan Borovcanin, handed over the flag of the specialized exhibition Expo to the Prime Minister of Serbia and the envoy of the President of the Republic, Miloš Vucevic.
The ceremonial flag handover took place at the Sava Center in the presence of Dimitrios Karkensis, the Secretary General of the International Bureau of Exhibitions (Bureau International des Expositions – BIE).
Vucevic stated that receiving the flag for the International Expo 2027 is a significant day for Serbia and that he would hand the flag over to President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, on Monday, who would keep it in the Presidency of Serbia until the opening of the exhibition in 2027.
Vucevic emphasized that this flag is a symbol of victory and proof of the immense success achieved together. He added that Serbia will be the first host of this exhibition in the Western Balkans.
"This is a great honor, but also a great responsibility because we will bring new opportunities, new cooperation, and, I believe, a better standard of living to our country and all of our citizens," Vucevic stressed.
Minister of Science Jelena Begovic received the flag for the international EXPO 2027 exhibition in Paris, announcing the conclusion of formal negotiations with the Bureau International des Expositions.
According to him, Expo 2027 will be a turning point in Serbia's overall development.
The first Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Finance, Sinisa Mali, stated that three to four million visitors are expected to attend the Expo 2027 in Belgrade and emphasized that Expo is not just Belgrade, but all of Serbia.
"It's about the infrastructure we need to improve, the new roads we are building, hospitals, schools, and kindergartens. This is all part of Expo. And we want, in 2027, not only to present ourselves in the best way to the largest number of countries and visitors, but also to raise the quality of life and infrastructure in our country. This is our goal for 2027," said Mali.
The flag is awarded to host countries of Expo events after the Bureau’s General Assembly approves the Recognition Dossier, the most important document used to organize, implement, and build the exhibition.
The flag also symbolizes that Serbia can officially begin inviting countries to participate in the Expo, with the procedure being that the President of the Republic sends official invitations to the highest representatives of countries worldwide to participate in Expo 2027 in Belgrade.
The specialized Expo 2027 in Belgrade will take place from May 15 to August 15.
