City Manager: Tunnel Excavation for the Belgrade Metro to Start Next Year

Cuckovic said that the City of Belgrade has a work plan for 2025 related to the construction of the metro and noted that preparations are also planned for relocating citizens who live in the areas where metro stations will be located.

Legal procedures will be carried out to provide these citizens with either a replacement apartment or compensation for purchasing a property.

"This is all defined by the 2025 construction process, in addition to the construction of a large boulevard along the Makisko Field and the building of a large depot, as well as a garage and an automated room," said Cuckovic.

He added that the first metro line, stretching 21 kilometers, will connect Zeleznik, Banovo brdo, Zarkovo, Ada Ciganlija, Sajam, Savski trg, and Republic Square.

He emphasized that the metro is expected to be operational by 2030 if everything proceeds according to plan.
