As the reason for this decision, the CEC cited alleged "nationalistic statements" made by the President of Srpska Lista in Kosovo, Zlatan Elek, during the presentation of the electoral list.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated that Kurti's attempt to unlawfully ban Srpska Lista's participation in the upcoming elections is the clearest indication of how much Pristina and its followers fear Serbian unity and solidarity, as well as the strength of Srpska Lista's candidates.
