Vucic: Pristina Will Accuse Serbs of the Canal Attack to Prevent Srpska Lista’s Participation in Elections
President Aleksandar Vucic stated during a session of the Serbian government that, based on the information he received, the regime of Albin Kurti is expected to accuse Serbs in the coming days of the attack on the Ibar-Lepenac Canal to prevent the participation of Srpska Lista in the elections.
He added that Albanians deliberately contaminated the site where the investigation was to be conducted, before the arrival of KFOR and EULEX, with a clear political motive.
"They won’t make much noise about it, nor can they, as they know they have no evidence. However, the purpose and goal are, to try in every possible way, to ban Srpska Lista from participating in the upcoming elections. This is supported primarily by the outgoing U.S. administration, as they exert tremendous pressure on EU member states to begin lifting measures against Pristina. No one understands on what basis they are demanding this or why, but they are demanding it. And they are doing so primarily to secure another victory for Kurti and further prevent the survival of Serbs in Serbia’s southern province," the president emphasized.
A significant hybrid attack has been attempted on our country. In the initial wave, Belgrade and Serbia were accused of being behind the explosion near Zubin Potok, but we have no connection to these events, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
Vucic noted that the European Union is likely to open Cluster 3 for Serbia at the end of January or the beginning of February, though he questioned whether this represents the significant breakthrough that some claim.
"Some people probably think this is an extremely important moment, a turning point because we haven’t opened any clusters or chapters since 2021. I don’t know if this is truly a turning point, and I cannot tell our people that certain things are much more important than they actually are," the president remarked.
He expressed his preference for Prime Minister Milos Vucevic to lead the team, which should include not only government members but also individuals from a broader base. He suggested the team should consist of those capable of negotiating on the matter both with Russians on one side and Americans on the other.
The President of Serbia reiterated that all student demands have been met and urged government members not to interfere. At the same time, he expressed his disapproval of the removal of children from schools across Serbia for political purposes, stating that it is incomprehensible to him that the entire Serbian government remains silent while minors are involved in politics.
